General Manager - AMPR
Brooke Shell is the General Manager of Australia’s leading specialist in fashion PR, AMPR. Her journey began with a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) in 2001 and a Graduate Diploma in Public Relations at RMIT. Brooke went on to Intern at Thrive PR, supporting the team with the PR campaign for the Caulfield Cup Carnival where she was responsible for media and celebrity liaison, photo shoots and event support. This provided Brooke with the perfect opportunity to gain practical experience and build a professional network particularly with Melbourne media.
Her experience led her to secure a role with AMPR where she’s has been for over eight years. Throughout her time at the company she’s worked across each of the departments including fashion, lifestyle and events and is now responsible for the strategic development and delivery of public relations campaigns for some of the agency’s largest accounts including, David Jones and the L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival.
Q. What’s one thing you wish you’d known when you started your career?
A: Pay attention to detail but once a decision is made move on.
The Fashion PR and Front of House presentation informs students about the world of fashion PR and a PR Account Manager’s role in the preparation and delivery of a successful runway show. The talk covers topics such as the various responsibilities of a label’s PR agent in preparing for a runway show, fashion journalism, media management, guest lists, seating plans and personal anecdotes on getting started in PR.
