Fashion columnist, reporter and stylist – Herald Sun
2012-Introduction to Runway Production course
Anna Byrne is a fashion journalist and columnist of the Herald Sun. Renowned for her insightful, opinionated and humorous musings on the world of fashion and beyond in numerous columns and editorials, her take on fashion is witty and refreshingly non-elitist.
With myth busting common sense and a commitment to making fashion accessible for everyone, Anna also holds the role of Herald Sun stylist with styling pages appearing in the Weekend supplement and news pages on a weekly basis.
Originally from Bendigo, Anna moved to Melbourne to study Professional and Creative writing at Deakin University, majoring in Social and Political Thought with the hope of becoming a speech writer for politicians. Her love of fashion would override her political dream however after an internship in her final year of study under the tutelage of then Herald Sun fashion editor and Melbourne style icon Anna Brodie.
Anna took a year off post university to travel, during which time she freelanced for numerous fashion websites. On returning back to Australia, fate intervened by way of multiple maternity leave contracts and Anna was hired as stylist and fashion writer for the Herald Sun. Six months later she was promoted to fashion editor of the Sunday Herald Sun and now, almost three years to the date since she first began with the paper, Anna has taken on a new role as Beauty editor.
